Music for dancing 8-10pm every Tuesday (with rare exceptions as noted on the What’s On and Calendar pages), at Portishead’s Somerset Hall. Standard and Latin American (no sequence). Excellent music in strict tempo with two or three tracks of each dance played by experienced DJs.
Dancing for all, with practice permitted – no dress code.
Members £4.50 non-members £6.00 – including tea/coffee.
All standards; visitors welcome.
Social dancing one Sunday afternoon in each month at Portishead (except in December). Mixed modern, latin, and sequence dances are played.
The dances are held from 3.00 to 6.00pm with an interval for refreshments. Tea & coffee, and home-made cakes, available for sale during the interval.
At 2.30pm (half an hour before the start of the Tea Dance) we have tuition on a sequence dance by a local professional. All are welcome to attend and there is no charge to those who are staying for the Tea Dance. If anyone has a request for tuition on a particular dance then please let Peter Jones know.
Admission: £5.50 (AADC members £4). All dancers welcome.

The Avon Amateur Dancers Club organises two annual competitive events:
City of Bristol Championships (usually held in March)
West of England Championships (held in October or November)

We also support the Weston Super Mare International Festival (late January).
A group booking is often made annually to spectate at the International Championships at the Albert Hall, London (mid Oct).
Dances with Demonstrations
Avon Dancers hold at least four main social dances each year (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Xmas) with top-quality demonstrations from established or rising stars in the dance world.
